Dr. Tony Machani’s journey into pediatric dentistry began long before he ever wore a white coat.
Growing up in Kenya, he saw firsthand how access to compassionate healthcare could change the trajectory of a child’s life. He became drawn to dentistry not simply as a profession, but as a way to serve families at vulnerable and formative moments.
During his training, an internship at the Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic profoundly shaped him. There, he worked alongside specialists caring for children born with complex craniofacial conditions. He saw the courage of young patients, the resilience of parents, and the life-changing impact of thoughtful, meticulous care. It reinforced a belief that every child deserves to be treated with patience, dignity, and gentleness, especially when they are afraid.
Today, parents often describe Dr. Machani as calm, reassuring, and intentional. He takes time to explain what is happening in simple terms. He listens. He meets children at eye level. He understands that a child’s first dental visits can shape how they feel about healthcare for the rest of their life.
When he founded Amani Pediatric Dentistry, he envisioned a space where families feel welcomed, not rushed. Where questions are encouraged. Where children build confidence, not fear.
For Dr. Machani, pediatric dentistry is not just about teeth. It is about helping children grow up feeling safe, capable, and cared for.
